At the Linksys RE7000 WiFi range extender side panel there are two buttons.

  • Reset Button:- To reset all the factory defaults settings, press this reset button.  
  • Know WPS button:- WiFi protected setup (WPS) button helps configure extender automatically with the router.

Bottom View

  • LED:- LED defines the extender ethernet connection status with the main router.  
  • Ethernet Port:- Connect extender to router or computer by ethernet cable. When the extender sends and receives data over the ethernet port, then LED light starts blinking.

Install Linksys RE7000 Extender

Wireless range WiFi extenders repeat the existing WiFi signals. On the other hand, wired range extender make new WiFi hotspots. But both wireless or wired setup methods need a host router with a working internet connection. 

Setup RE7000 Linksys Extender Wirelessly

In the working power socket, plugin the Linksys RE7000 WiFi range extender (near to the router). At the RE7000 Linksys front, the indicator LED starts blinking green for up to a minute. After that, wait for the indicator LED to blink amber prior to going to further step. 

Thereafter, press the router WPS button and in next two minutes press RE7000 Linksys extender WPS button. Then, Wait to start blinking the WPS button solid green. At the end, place Linksys RE7000 WiFi range extender where you want but in the router range.

Configure RE7000 Extender Through Wired

Try this Linksys RE7000 setup process, if your router does not have a WPS button. 

  • As before, plug in the Linksys RE7000 WiFi range extender.
  • Now, connect an ethernet cable to the computer ethernet port and another end with the extender ethernet port.
  • Hence, WiFi devices attach with Linksys default WiFi network.
  • Linksys Extender setup-XXX is the default WiFi network. (XXX is the last three digits of the Linksys WiFi range extender MAC address).
  • Open browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the URL bar.
  • Fill in the default Linksys extender username and password
  • Select your model number.
  • Consider all the display directions.
  • At the end, connect the WiFi device to the extended network that you just created.

Location

Locate RE7000 Linksys extender at halfway between your home router and the area where you face slow internet speed. 

Distance

Avoid placing extenders too far from the existing router. 

Restart Extender

From the power outlet take out the extender power plug and wait for a few minutes. Now insert the extender back in the working power
